Vitali Golod (born 23 June 1971) is a Soviet–Israeli chess grandmaster. As of April 2007, his Elo rating was 2597, making him the # 7 player in Israel and the 152nd-highest rated player in the world. It is his peak rating so far. ==Chess career== In 1988, he tied for 13-14th in Kharkov (UKR-ch). Golod was Ukrainian Champion in 1991. He then moved to Israel. In 2002, he tied for 6-8th in Tel Aviv (ISR-ch; Ilya Smirin, Boris Avrukh, and Zvulun Gofshtein won). In 2004, he tied for 1st-2nd with Sergei Erenburg in Ramat Aviv (ISR-ch). He also won in Santa Monica. In 2010, he tied for 1st-7th with grandmasters Alexander Riazantsev, Nadezhda Kosintseva, Leonid Kritz, Sébastien Feller, Christian Bauer, Sébastien Mazé in the 43rd Biel MTO.
